The earliest structure built on the original site of WhiteHall Mansion, located in the section of Mystic which is in the town of Stonington, was constructed around 1680 by Lt. William Gallup.A tavern and stagecoach stop stood on the site in the 1750s. Whitehall Mansion, named after an ancestor’s home, Whight House, in Essex, England, was built in 1771-1775 by Dr. Dudley Woodbridge . A secret room in the attic may have housed runaway slaves. Dr, Woodbridge died in 1790 and the house was later owned by the Rodman and Wheeler families. The Mansion's last resident, Florence Grace Keach, donated the house to the Stonington Historical Society in 1962 in order to save it from demolition when Interstate-95 was being constructed. The house was moved approximately one hundred yards north and restored. For a time, it was open for tours, but was purchased by the Waterford Hotel Group in 1996 and is now the Whitehall Mansion Inn. The 239 yr old WhiteHall Mansion is also well known in the community for is reported paranormal activity.Over the years guest have have reported strange sounds and sightings throughout the rooms of the mansion. Orbs and/or floating clouds have been seen and the sound of children laughing (when no children are in the vicinity)
On October 17th 2009 the CT Soul Seekers were given the opportunity to conduct a paranormal investigation at WhiteHall Mansion, located in beautiful Mystic , CT.
THE HISTORY OF WHITEHALL MANSION

Dr. Dudley Woodbridge was not only a minister of Groton,(his father was actually the first minister of Groton)but also a prominenet physician. He also studied theology at Yale and then transferred to Harvard when he earned a degree in 1724. WhiteHall Mansion served as his medical office as well as being the family homestead. It was no surprise that Dr.Woodbridge would serve as clergy as he was descended from a long line of ministers dating back to the late 1400's in England.
Dr. Woodbridge along with his wife Sarah (Sheldon) lived in the home along with their nine children :Charlotte, Lucy, Benjamin ,Sally (nicknamed Sarah)Samuel,Elizabeth (nicknamed Betsey) Joseph, William and Dudley Jr.
As the years passed all the children entered into marriage and moved away from the home.Lucy was the only Woodbridge child who never married and remained in the home along with Benjamin who passed away in the home at only twelve years old.
Dr. Dudley Woodbridge died October 4th 1790.During his eulogy he was proclaimed as a man of "unblemished morals who lived a life of virtue and piety." his wife Sarah died just six years later in 1796.
Some believe that Lucy and Benjamin still remain earthbound in the home. With Lucy reported as being the "main" ghost.
WhiteHall Mansion now serves as a historic five bedroom Inn,with rooms named after some of the Woodbridge children.

OUR EXPERIENCES
While we were all initially intrigued by the reports of paranormal activity in the mansion, once we stepped through the doors the team was whisked back in time by the quaint inn.The rooms including the common area all have beautiful fireplaces for those looking for a romantic weekend getaway. The canopied beds and remarkable paintings set the charming atmosphere for relaxation and the simple pleasures of life. This is the perfect place for those looking to escape the daily hustle and bustle.
Marci Fernino (EVP Specialist and Sensitive) had quite an unnerving experience while in Betsey's room which has an entrance up into the attic area.As she lay in bed she heard the distinct sound of the attic doorknob turning.Upon further investigation,we found no one near the door or in the attic area.Needless to say she decided to sleep in another room that night....with a camera on her at all times.Marci plans to again attempt a night in Betsey's room on our follow up investigation.
Angel Ortiz (Co-Founder of CTSS and Tech Manager) also had some experiences at the mansion. While investigating Benjamins room the door leading into the room opened up three times on it's own.Angel tried to explain the event by jumping up and down in all areas of the room.No matter what he tried he was unable to recreate the door opening on it's own. What truly amazed us was when the door opened for the third time it happened upon request! Angel is looking forward to spending more time investigating Benjamins room.
Nicole Hall (Co-Founder of CTSS & Lead Investigator) had some experiences of her own while watching monitors. She heard voices coming from the stair case area. The voices were very muffled and unintelligible.Upon further investigation it was noted that no other investigators were in that area at the time.We also were able to capture some EMF spikes on film.
Our collective experiences during our stay at WhiteHall Mansion were amazing. We did not feel there was any malevolent spirits present and are looking forward to presenting our findings to viewers once approved by proper management.
We are also very excited to have been allowed a follow up investigation of the mansion.
We would like to extend our appreciation and a warm thank you to Scott of WhiteHall Mansion.
Stay tuned for the video documentation of evidence coming soon!!!
